We are at war with the self.
Nothing is so apt to challenge our self-awareness and alertness as being at war with oneself. One can hardly think of any other or more effective means of waking humanity out of the irresponsible and innocent half-sleep of the primitive mentality and bringing it to a state of conscious responsibility.
I watched an interesting show on Frontline and kids growing up online today. The online society has set up a place where our personna can play out. It is as if we are in an ongoing experiment in which we see where our true selves may take us. I also saw the documentary catfish which shows the dark side of this.
The persona is a complicated system of relations between individual consciousness and society, fittingly enough a kind of mask, designed on the one hand to make a definite impression upon others, and, on the other, to conceal the true nature of the individual.
It as if all are in this ongoing catharsis. A group coming of age were we can look in the mirror. We are psychoanalyzing our selves and collectively the micro is playing out on the macro.
In a Jung video I saw one country which has lasted and seems to be healthy. In that country they have a national holiday in which there is a giant parade and everyone dress in their disguises and for a day become their persona. It is similar to Halloween.
Whoever dreamed we could become avatars
Like the two halves of the brain coming together it is about the two states of existence merging. The world of dreams and that of reality becoming one. That is where we are headed.
Thy will be done on earth as in heaven.
